Christie’s has announced the second iteration of its “Jewels Online: Summer Sparkle” auction which will see the sale of a 24.45 carat heart-shaped diamond pendant for an estimate between $1.5m (£1.1m) and £2.5m (£1.7m).

The curated online-only auction which will run until 18 August celebrates some of the most sought after diamonds.

From classic colorless diamonds, to a wide variety of rare colors spanning pinks, oranges, greens, browns and yellows this sale offers a vast selection including a dedicated selection of jewels offered without reserve.

The 24.45 carat diamond, which is said to be “a highlight” for the auction also belongs to the rare Type IIa category, which make up less than 2% of all diamonds.

These stones have no traces of the colorant nitrogen, which create a “purity of color” originating from the mines of Golconda, Brazil and South Africa.
