JGW Singapore attracting big-name exhibitors

The industry’s most-awaited sourcing event of the year features 20+ pavilions powered by 1,000 major suppliers from close to 30 countries and regions

Some of the world’s biggest jewellery and gemstone companies are taking part in Jewellery & Gem WORLD (JGW), previously known as the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, from 27 to 30 September in Halls 3 to 6 of the Singapore EXPO. The fair will present the newest products of around 1,000 exhibitors from close to 30 countries and regions.

The iconic B2B jewellery show is temporarily relocating from its Hong Kong home base to the Lion City, a destination currently more accessible to overseas buyers and exhibitors. Unlike Hong Kong, which still subjects travellers to a seven-day mandatory quarantine in a designated hotel among others, Singapore welcomes fully vaccinated visitors with a seamless quarantine-free and test-free travel experience.

JGW Singapore has drawn an overwhelmingly positive response from buyers and exhibitors, signifying the growing clamour for the return of face-to-face sourcing events. Visitor registration is now open at this link. Interested buyers may also subscribe to JGW Singapore eNewsletters here to receive the latest show information.

Segmented into 20+ destinations for easy navigation, the show features pavilions led by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC), International Colored Gemstone Association, Israel Diamond Institute (IDI), and the national, regional or industry association pavilions of Colombia, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Türkiye, Thailand and the US, among others.

In terms of product categories, JGW Singapore has distinct neighbourhoods dedicated to diamonds, pearls, fine jewellery, antique and vintage collections, jadeite jade, pre-owned jewellery, silver creations, lab-grown diamonds, and packaging and technology solutions.

Additionally, the Premier Pavilion, a section exclusive to the Singapore event, will present jewellery masterpieces, design-focused fine collections and investment-quality gemstones.

International Exhibitors

Some of the industry-leading companies that will be at JGW Singapore include luxury and contemporary fine jewellers; diamond, coloured gemstone and pearl suppliers, and solutions providers, to name a few.

“JGW Singapore is ideally timed for us to get in touch with our existing customers given the improving COVID situation in many parts of the world. After more than two years of being apart, we are now presented with the best opportunity to showcase our new products to potential clients in a physical format,” said Tovikkai, noting that the in-person buying experience is imperative when it comes to coloured gemstone sourcing.

“The online business model has its limitations,” he continued. Many of Blue Gems’ clients are looking forward to attending JGW Singapore since they want to see the stones beyond the screen, feel the weight of the gems in their hands and observe how different light sources affect their colours.

For Cam Li Miranda, Managing Director of Miranda Group Co Ltd, JGW Singapore is the ideal platform for the launch of her company’s exceptional coloured gemstone collections. The gemstone specialist has cutting and polishing facilities in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

“We are glad to participate in JGW Singapore,” Miranda said. “We are a gemstone manufacturer that sources precious materials direct from our group’s own mines and associate mines. In the last 20 years, we have been working on our mine projects, especially the Paraiba tourmaline mines in Brazil, Mozambique and Nigeria. We have been developing this project constantly, and now post-COVID, we are ready to promote our finest gemstones to the international market.”

The Premier Pavilion exhibitor aims to connect with jewellery brands, high-end and branded luxury jewellery retailers, designers and collectors at the Singapore fair.

Buyers will discover diamond and coloured gemstone creations of enduring beauty at

the booth of KGK Jewellery (HK) Limited, a part of the KGK group of companies. The company is unveiling stunning collections comprising statement necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings adorned with round and fancy-shaped white and fancy colour diamonds, and exceptional coloured gemstones at the show.

“We need to promote our collections through regular exhibitions, which we have missed in the last three years. Our star collections will be showcased at JGW Singapore, and this platform is ideal to connecting with new retailers from different markets,” said KGK Jewellery.

Radiant pearls, treasured as symbols of grace and elegance, are also anticipated to keep the JGW Singapore show floor buzzing. One of the standout exhibitors is Otsuki Pearl Co Ltd of Japan, which is presenting a wide selection of pearl strands, parcels and semi-finished products.

We are one of the leading manufacturersand wholesalers of Akoya, South Sea andTahitian pearls,” said the company, which was established in 1930.

David Bondi, Senior Vice President of Informa Markets in Asia, noted that all signs point to an exciting and lively buying experience in Singapore this September.

“The last two to three years were the toughest that we had ever faced – both professionally and personally – and challenges do remain. We, however, believe that our journey to recovery is gaining momentum, and we are humbled and thankful to play a part in our industry’s rebuilding,” Bondi said.

The Singapore show will look different and feel different. It will, however, bring the same sense of community and purpose that defines JGW, he continued.

“Everyone who is passionate about our industry will be there – manufacturers, designers, brands, retailers, wholesalers and innovators who will celebrate everything that is wonderful and enduring about jewellery – for four intense days of trading and networking,” he said.

With growth hopes further tempered by external headwinds, the significance of inspiring sourcing experiences like JGW Singapore cannot be overemphasised, said Celine Lau, Director of Jewellery Fairs at Informa Markets Jewellery.

“The road ahead can be rife with disruptions,” Lau said. “To help open up new growth opportunities for suppliers and professional buyers, we are making our sourcing events work even harder for our community with initiatives such as JGW Singapore and other B2B events tailored to their needs.”
