With the arrival of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) businesses who mishandle personal data will leave themselves open to a fine of up to £17.5m.

Research by information management company EDM Group found that 76% of UK businesses say a large amount of mail and communications are incorrectly allocated due to human error.

Research showed that 39% of businesses have experienced a negative impact of poor mail and communication management, only 16% of businesses said they met their mail management service level.

As many as 81% of businesses say they have not adopted a digital mailroom, leaving themselves open to potential fines after the GDPR is implemented on 25 May.
