Manchester-based Christopher James Jewellers has picked up the Retail Team of the Year gong at the inaugural Heart of Manchester Retail Awards.

The awards were created to celebrate Manchester’s retail environment including the city’s mix of high street stores, department stores, luxury and independent stores.

A statement from Heart of Manchester said that the awards showcase the “strength of the city centre’s retail sector and its contribution to the city’s economy, as well as the diverse, dedicated and talented work force employed in the industry.”

Lauren Waters, manager and assistant buyer at Christopher James Jewellers told Jewellery Focus: “We are absolutely delighted to win the award. All of the team have worked extremely hard and it really has paid off. As an independent family owned business we were please to win as we were up against some tough competition, two big high street retailers.

“Our success is due to the fact that our staff members are really passionate about what they do, everybody has a keen interest in fine jewellery and everybody enjoys coming to work.”

Department store House of Fraser was the biggest winner, scooping the Employee of the Year, Manager of the Year and Department store of the Year awards.

Christopher James Jewellers has been trading in diamonds and fine jewellery for over 30 years and has stores in both Manchester and Liverpool.
