A 41-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with an armed robbery at the Mappin & Webb store in Gleneagles Hotel.

Richard Fleming, from London, faced seven charges during an appearance at Perth Sheriff Court.

He is accused of assault and robbery, assault, two charges of theft by housebreaking, a charge of being in a building with intent to commit theft and a charge under the Firearms Act.

A group of men allegedly raided the jewellery store on 27 June and the police are still looking for others who they believe were involved.

Fleming entered no plea and has been remanded in custody until a further court hearing next week.
