Beaverbrooks sees record December sales

The company stated that it had seen a growing trend of customers looking for a more immersive shopping experience, something it expects to continue into 2023

Jewellery retailer Beaverbrooks has announced record breaking December sales with an 8% increase compared with 2021.

The retailer also stated that it saw an 18% increase in sales when only accounting for the last two weeks of the month compared with 2021.

Despite the cost of living crisis and rail strikes, footfall in Beaverbrooks stores reached its highest level since before the pandemic on 23 December 2022.

The company stated that it had seen a growing trend of customers looking for a more immersive shopping experience, something it expects to continue into 2023.

Anna Blackburn, managing director, said: โ€œAfter the pandemicโ€™s challenges across the last two years itโ€™s great to have seen people really making the most of Christmas 2022, and the increase in sales shows customers were keen to treat themselves and their loved ones this year.

โ€œDespite declining footfall across the retail sector, weโ€™ve seen a growing trend for customers spending more when they do come into store, particularly for engagement and wedding rings, luxury watches and other considered jewellery purchases.โ€

She added: โ€œNow more than ever itโ€™s all about customer experience when it comes to bricks and mortar retail. When shoppers visit us they want to feel special โ€“ taking time to browse collections, having a celebratory drink, trying on special pieces and benefitting from the expertise and advice from our colleagues.โ€
