NAJ appoints Marie Garnett as new head of education

Garnett previously held a professional development role at a professional member association

The National Association of Jewellers (NAJ) has appointed Marie Garnett as head of education, bringing with her a wealth of experience gained over 25 years as an ‘educational developer’.

Primarily in the higher education sector, she has worked at universities on the development and provision of training portfolios for staff at all levels.

At Lifelong Learning UK, Garnett was in charge of succession planning of skills into various job sectors and how to provide new apprenticeship training.

This was followed by a key professional development role at a professional member association, developing three levels of qualifications and putting together training and development programmes.

Garnett said: “I particularly enjoyed this role as it is really rewarding to make a contribution towards the professionalism of an area. Working with members who are so enthusiastic about developing schemes makes it such a positive environment to work in.”

NAJ chief executive Simon Forrester added: “I’m really pleased NAJ has secured someone of the calibre of Marie, she has a strong background as an educationalist, and many years’ experience in associations which I know will help drive our offering to the sector.”
