Lonmin Design Innovation Award deadline extended

2013 is the 11th year for the contest, and this year’s theme is ‘New Frontiers’ – one of the trends for 2014 inspired by groundbreaking design movements such as Modernism, Bauhaus and Art Deco, which looked to a bright new future whilst producing design relevant to contemporary lifestyles.

Sponsored by Lonmin, one of the world’s largest producers of platinum, and supported by International Jewellery London, the competition is open to designers who already work in platinum and those wishing to start, whether independent or working for a manufacturer or retailer.

The competition continues to be judged by key influential figures in the jewellery industry with ‘emerging designers’ and ‘established designers’ categories. There are three winners in each category and this year’s prize will include a monetary contribution to the production of each winning piece, as well as publicity and recognition for the winners.

Last year’s winners were Alexander Davis, Leyla Abdollahi, Sarah Jordan and Mandy Morris in the established designers category; and Natasha Bagnall, Mark Hampson, Edward Slater and Laura Strand in the emerging designers category.
