Some 50% of jewellery consumers in the UK say they prefer in-store shopping when looking for products, according to a survey by SumUp.

Nearly 70% of consumers said they prefer in-store shopping as it allows them to try products before buying while 63% prefer it because it allows them to purchase an item immediately.

Just under half of respondents said being able to ask questions to employees makes them prefer in-store shopping and 23% said they enjoyed the social aspect.

The report also found that 41% of shoppers identified sustainable packaging as a key trust factor, followed closely by 36% who trust brands that allow product recycling.

Furthermore, 62% of customers are more likely to return to shops that offer a loyalty program, such as seasonal offers or offers for senior citizens/students.

Alongside this 57% of shoppers stated that poor quality goods deterred them from shopping in-store while 52% said poor hygiene of a store stopped them.

To capture this data Sum Up sent a survey via OnePoll to 2000 UK respondents in August.
