Miles Hoare and Daren Daniels, owners of The Jewellery App, a B2B e-commerce website, have launched the jewellery industry’s very own consumer marketplace, reporting over 40 members have signed up in pre-registration.

The Jewellery and Watch Market (www.jewelleryandwatchmarket.co.uk) is a new business to consumer marketplace and so far, 5000 products have been pledged.

The owners of the app also announced they were in discussions with several major jewellery trade companies for both being a sponsor on the consumer site and adding more products to the platform.

Daniels said: “We couldn’t have asked for a better start, with jewellery sales going up across the board but high street sales going down, we aim to help turn this around and support the high street independent jewellery trade.”

The new consumer e-commerce site is looking to sell a complete product range to attract the widest range of both consumers and vendors to meet the business vision of connecting the industry in one marketplace. Once connected they aim to develop an annual consumer campaign to raise not only this consumer marketplace but also the all retail independent jewellers.

Daniels added: ‘We as a trade we need to change and innovate, it needs its own marketplace, and quickly. Consumer research is all pointing to buyers wanting more choice in one place, so a niche B2C jewellery marketplace with a wider choice meets consumer trends with shopping online whilst demonstrating the diverse product selection the trade has to offer.”

The new consumer market will sell products from fairtrade, ethical, pre-owned, designers, brands, traditional, right through to luxury and will have areas for full price products and sale items.
