KP reacts to alleged abuse at Marange

Human Rights Watch, an international human rights advocacy group, says it holds evidence that police and private security guards employed by mining companies in the region are “shooting, beating and unleashing attack dogs” on unlicensed local miners. The organisation claimed to have interviewed 10 miners in the city of Umtali who reported suffering such attacks.

The allegations follow a recent episode of the BBC’s long-running Panorama series that claimed to have uncovered “torture camps” located in the area.
