A new marketplace for bespoke jewellery commissions has launched online.

MIMO connects consumers to a network of local makers and allows them to collaborate to commission and create bespoke jewellery.

The platform aims to make bespoke jewellery more accessible as well as benefit small jewellery business makers.

MIMO is the vision of co-founder Lynne Murray, an award winning jeweller, entrepreneur and digital strategist who specialises in emerging technologies for retail.

This was made in development with co-founder Thomas Pomfret, who leads the technical development and platform build.

Together, Pomfret and Murray have been developing the MIMO concept in beta mode since 2014 with a leading board including Jason Holt CBE, CEO of Holts Group and Tim Morgan, founder of startup studio Mint Digital.

Murray said: “We believe bespoke jewellery is special, but recognise it is not always easy for consumers to access bespoke services in a way fitting of current consumer trends.

“Many of our customers do not always have time to spend in multiple stores or online finding the right maker, or simply have never considered going bespoke as they don’t know where to start. There is a disconnect between the way makers make and buyers shop, and we believe this can be simplified through MIMO.”
