Fashion jewellery and accessories brand Claire’s has appointed Will Wright and Chris Pole from Interpath as joint administrators to its UK, European services and European distribution businesses, effective 13 August 2025.
With UK headquarters in Birmingham, the company operates 306 stores across the UK and Ireland, employing more than 2,150 people.
The move follows an announcement on 6 August that Claire’s Holdings LLC had entered voluntary Chapter 11 proceedings in the United States.
Interpath intends to continue trading the companies while assessing options for the business, including a possible sale as a going concern.
All UK stores will remain open in the meantime. However, customers can no longer place orders online via the UK and Ireland website.
Orders that were placed and dispatched before the appointment of the joint administrators will be delivered as normal. Orders that have not yet been dispatched will not be delivered, and customers should not be charged for them as payment is taken on dispatch.
Additionally, refunds cannot be issued for purchases made before 13 August.
Wright, UK chief executive at Interpath, said: “Claire’s has long been a popular brand across the UK, known not only for its trend-led accessories but also as the go-to destination for ear piercing.
“Over the coming weeks, we will endeavour to continue to operate all stores as a going concern for as long as we can, while we assess options for the company. This includes exploring the possibility of a sale which would secure a future for this well-loved brand.”
